NO they aren't battery powered like their parent Zhu Zhu Pets, so no worries about hair getting caught in their wheels! AND they also don't say anything when you touch their noses. So no extra costs for batteries! What they are is REALLY CUTE accessories for your Zhu Zhu Pets which is why my kids had to have all of them! We did have to visit 4 or 5 stores to find them all though. They play with these just like they're a little hamster family. OUR CAT EVEN CHASES THEM!
